Corrales, New Mexico, is a Sandoval County village with over 8,500 residents. CNN Money ranked the community as one of the best places in which to live in the United States. Corrales is a unique town because it exudes an agrestic atmosphere in spite of being located between two large cities: Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. It’s only 30 minutes from Albuquerque and 12 minutes from Rio Rancho, so if you work in one of those cities, commuting to one of them wouldn’t take long.
Even though Corrales is small, this community is a major hub for festivals and the arts. One popular event here is the Corrales Harvest Festival. This September event honors their agricultural background. You can purchase fresh produce, knickknacks and arts and crafts works. It also features food, a hayride, and a corn maze. Another event to check out is the Starlight Parade. In addition to lighted vehicles and floats, the parade offers cider, cookies, a bonfire and Santa Claus, of course. Visit the Galeria de Corrales to gaze at sculptures, paintings and other works created by local artists. It’s open every day from 10 am to 5 pm. Village Pizza is where you can order pizza and other tasty dishes like nachos, hot wings, spaghetti and more. The restaurant has a patio so that you can enjoy your meal in the fresh air. About 11 miles from Corrales is where Sandia Lakes is located in Bernalillo, New Mexico. The outdoor recreational area has fishing areas, barbecue grills, a full kitchen and a covered pavilion for special occasions. Corrales is home to two schools: one elementary school and one private high school.
If you’re raising a family, and require a fairly large dwelling, then you just hit the jackpot! Over 85 percent of real estate properties in Corrales are single family homes. Also, a little over half of Corrales homes have three bedrooms. This community is not only fit for families; it’s also a good retirement town since about 25 percent of residents here are 65 and older. Regardless of your age or household size, Corrales is a nice place in which to buy a new home. It’s safe, affordable and possesses a strong economy.
